We are giving away 25 pine nut shellers to food cooperatives, small speciality food producers , organic pesto makers and locally owned grocers/delis. To receive a sheller, the company must agree to purchase 1,000 lbs of Jumbp Soft shell (New Mexico hard shell pinon may also be available at a higher cost) pine nuts from us over the next year. 250 lbs will be delivered each month in October, November, December and January at a cost of $2,500.00 plus shipping per delivery. At this time, we anticipate these pine nuts to be certified wild crop organic pine nuts. Oregon Tilth is our certifier. Our objective is to use the technology to build the American Pine Nut market and help other small businesses, rather than be a seller of shelled American pine nuts. We requier a $1,000.00 deposit, to manufacture and hold your sheller and will accept payments , prior to the October delivery at which time the first order balance will be due plus the shipping on both the sheller and the first delivery of pine nuts. Goods From The Woods is looking for landowner partners in New Mexico, Utah and Nevada with solid stands of coning pinon trees. We will be shipping from Ely Nevada starting Oct 2. Please be sure and get your orders in, so there is no delay in receiving your pinyon nuts. Wholesale orders will ship Oct 2 - 3, 10 lb bulk orders Oct 3 - 6. We also can offer pinyon nuts in the cones and bulk pinyon pine cones. The large bird just love to shred cone and find the nuts. People also enjoy roasting the cones in their fireplaces.

New Mexico Pinon Pine Nuts 2009
Pickers are calling us asking for harvestable areas. The cones in areas around Gallop did not develop fully and are not producing. There are reported harvestable areas around Page AZ, and perhaps some scant offerings in Eastern UT. Traditional areas have few to no nuts. Ranchers in Co and Northern New Mexico are welcome to call us and we can assist in matching you with a harvest team.

Jumbo Nevada Soft Shell Pinyon Pine Nuts

We have been getting emails asking about the 2009 harvest of American Pine Nuts. If you want to place an pre- order, in August and lock in your price, you may do so on our order page,

In 2007 there was no soft shell harvest and in 2008, there was a poor harvest and prices reached $18.00 in Nevada grocery stores. There will be no shortage of pinyon nuts in 2009. But, some of our clients seem concerned and that is why we are sending out this email.

We will be in Nevada and Utah starting late September, there should be a delivery or two to Las Vegas the first week in October. We will have apx 2,500 - 3,000 lbs of orders to ship that first week in the field. We ship all bulk orders (10 – 50 lbs) first in the order in which they were placed.

We start shipping packaged product the second week less than 10 lbs. Anticipate those deliveries around October 12 - 17^th.

Hard shell New Mexico Pinon

There are harvestable quantities of the hard shell nuts in Utah and tiny pockets through CO and NM. These will be harder to come by this year, but we have a great relationship with a picker's cooperative and feel sure we can offer about 4,000 lbs for the pre Christmas orders. We have a few pounds on hand, but very few, so do not pre order this species.

We anticipate having butter nuts, hickory nuts and hazel nuts mid to late October (after we return from the Southwest shipping the pine nut orders).

Who should get our pine nut gifts?

We want to give two 5 lb orders to clients with a story to share.

We want to post pine nut stories on a special page, to help others understand the importance of this wonderful, American Wild food. The stories will be used in helping with our work of impacting pinyon management policy. Do you have a special memory of harvesting pinyon nuts with your family? Is there something you learned, that you value today?

We want to give two 5 lb orders to elders who cannot pick their own, or afford to buy pine nuts.
Please write me with a story of someone you know who should get a gift of pine nuts from us. The elder or humble sage should have a connection with teaching, wild harvesting and caring for the land and its people.

We want to give two 5 lb orders to schools or educational projects.

We want to give two 5 lb orders to animal rehabilitation centers or to someone who will perform a blessing on behalf of all of creation for the animal kingdom.

We want to give two 5 lb orders to clients who have the best recipes or methods for roasting, shelling, or cooking with our Native American Pinon Nuts.
